Kathy's Q & A

She's done it again.
Let's see what Kathy has in store for us this week.

1. Are you trying any new crafts?

No, but I *have* been thinking about it. Thinking about maybe giving sewing a try. Just simple stuff, but there is a fantastic sewing shop not far from where I live.

2. Do you love a logo from a company?

Yes, I do.

3. Do you secretly favor one set of needles in the needle family?

It's no secret. I favor my Zings.

4. Currently which is growing better in your garden, the plants or the weeds?

The weeds are winning the war, but we have mounted a frontal attack and are armed with spades, clippers and brute force.

5. The knitting gods are smiling down on you. You get one wish. What do you wish for?

B - to never run out of yarn for a project. I never have, but it is ALWAYS on my mind.

6. Am I the only woman on earth with bare-naked toe nails.

Nope. Right now mine are hangin' out all plain and naked. A few weeks ago I had a run-in with the door to the garage and split my big toe's nail. Once it grows in again, I'm springing for a pedicure with ALL the treats!

7. Admit your last impulse purchase.

Ohhhhhhh, that's a hard one. I am pretty purposeful about *most* shopping. It would probably have been sock yarn (surprise!!!) or something from the bookstore (book or magazine).

Socks on Saturday -- An FO

I have an FO!
(insert happy dance here)

Yarn:  Zauberball

Colorway:  1993 Schokocreme

Needles: Size 1 Knitter's Pride Zings

My TakeThe yarn was different from most of the other Zauberballs I've used before. This one was minimally spun and it felt like knitting with strands of hair. It was splitty, as most Zauberballs are, but this one was even more splitty.  It didn't bother me all that much, but it was definitely something I needed to pay attention to where my needles were headed with each stitch.

The pattern was simple and straight forward. I've made it before and most likely will make it again. It is pretty similar to the Surprise socks, which I have also made.

The Remains:  I've decided to start another scrappy blanket made solely with sock scraps from my socks from this point forward.

Block #1

These were the first socks finished in a good long while
and, boy did THAT feel good.

A new pair have already been cast on because
you know it's a law.

If you bind off a sock, you must immediately cast on another.

Short and Sweet

Mr. G.  - Cabinet inspector extraordinaire
"No mice here, Mom."
We are all moved in. There's still a lot of jobs to be done, but all the boxes are unpacked and our pictures are hung. I have a million nails to remove and plaster to patch. Good golly, Heather had a lot of things on the walls. Apparently they all required heavy duty plaster anchors.

Mr. G has settled in very well. Lots of windows (with wide sills to lay on). We live on a busy road so there is always plenty to see.

There will be lots of yard work to be done over the next few weeks. With all the rain we've had the weeds have literally had a FIELD DAY.

But we are FINALLY in our own house
and boy, did we sleep WELL last night.

Kathy posted a short and sweet Q & A,
so let's have a go.

1. Do you like to go on guided tours or go it alone.

Both ---- in museums I prefer to go it alone. I like to judge how much time to look at each thing.  But, I have REALLY enjoyed the "city" tours we've done with guides. Charleston and New Orleans both had guides that were amazing.

2. When you go to a yarn shop do you look at all the yarns?

Yes, but I concentrate most heavily on the sock yarns and the "gadgets".

3. When was the last time you swam in a pool?

Back in Orlando. We had our own pool. Our apartment in Jacksonville had a pool, but ............well, let's just leave it at that.

4. What's your favorite college/university team to follow?

Besides ..... how could you NOT love a team that has STELLA!

Hooter and Stella!

5. What radio station is your car set to?

102.9 WMGK  -- Oldies or 95.7 Ben FM  --- their tag line is ... "we play what we want". But most of the time I listen to my mp3 player plugged into the car system.
